Casino game facts
Evergreen, verifiable tidbits about the games behind the screens.

Online casino lobbies borrow from centuries of table-game history and decades of slot engineering. These facts are genuinely established — no invented statistics, no “lucky number” myths.
Roulette's double zero
European roulette wheels have 37 pockets (numbers 1–36 plus a single zero). American wheels add a double zero, bringing the total to 38. That extra pocket increases the house edge on even-money bets from roughly 2.7% to about 5.3% — a structural difference, not a streak pattern.
Blackjack's other name
The game was called “21” in 18th-century France before the American variant introduced a bonus payout for a black jack (jack of spades or clubs) paired with an ace of spades. The bonus name stuck even after the specific payout rule faded.
The first slot machine
Charles Fey built the Liberty Bell in San Francisco around 1895. It had three spinning reels and five symbols — horseshoes, diamonds, spades, hearts and the Liberty Bell. Three bells in a row paid the top prize of fifty cents.
Playing cards' French suits
The hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades design used in most Western decks derives from the French tarot tradition of the 15th century. English-speaking countries standardised on this French-suited pattern rather than the German suits (acorns, leaves, hearts, bells) still seen in some Central European packs.
RNGs in online slots
Licensed online slots use a Random Number Generator tested by independent labs such as eCOGRA, GLI or iTech Labs. Each spin outcome is determined at the moment you press play — previous results do not influence the next. UKGC-licensed operators must use tested RNG software and display RTP (Return to Player) figures for their games.
Baccarat's royal roots
Baccarat appeared in Italy in the 1400s before spreading to France, where it became associated with aristocratic salons. The name comes from the Italian word “baccara” meaning zero — a reference to the fact that tens and face cards count as zero in the scoring system.
Live dealer studios
Modern live casino streams originate from dedicated studios with multiple camera angles, optical character recognition to read physical cards, and pit bosses monitoring games in real time. Evolution, now the largest live supplier, launched its first live blackjack stream from Riga in 2006.
